“Oh s**t!!It’s great.”
Jeff Tucker, owner, County Line Electric, Inc., replying by email to the first look at his new website, October 2026

Thirty years of work. One page that finally shows it.

The old homepage led with a blurred photo and a headline about one city. The rebuild keeps the plate logo exactly as Jeff drew it, leads with the service his customers need most in storm season, and puts the proof in the first screen: BBB A+, HomeAdvisor 5.0, the license number and thirty years in business.

County Line Electric homepage rebuilt by Digilu
AfterThe rebuild, same plate logo, trust in the first screen, a 24-hour estimate form.

The form: six fields and a puzzle, or three fields and a call back

The old homepage asked for first name, last name, email, phone, how you heard about us and a message, then made a homeowner retype a distorted code. The new form asks for a name, a phone number and a city, checks for bots without a puzzle, and says exactly what happens next.

October 2026

  1. October 26, 2026DoneCompared you with 4 named competitors today: you 5.8, best of them 8.8 (All American Generator Services)

The weekly competitive watch scored every site in your market with the same engine. 1 competitor site could not be read today.

  2. October 22, 2026AdaptedEvery page hero now leads with proof: BBB A+ since 2017, HomeAdvisor 5.0, CSLB #949580, thirty years

Each mark links to the source that states it. Read live on October 22. Google has no reviews yet, so there is no Google rating to show; it joins the row the day there are five.

  3. October 22, 2026AdaptedHomepage hero rotates through the five services, with video behind each and tabs that follow

Standby generators, home automation, Lutron lighting and shades, EV chargers, new construction. The form changes with the slide. Service pages keep a still hero of their own.

  4. October 22, 2026AdaptedReviews page rebuilt on real, linked sources; the placeholder Projects page retired

The three HomeAdvisor reviews quoted word for word, the BBB A+ accreditation linked, nothing invented. Projects returns the day real projects arrive with the owners' permission.

  5. October 22, 2026AdaptedListings audited: Google clean, Yelp unclaimed at the old address, Apple Maps missing

Google: 3533 Old Conejo Rd Ste 114, (805) 499-0823, hours set, zero reviews, nothing awaiting a reply. Yelp: unclaimed, 235 N Moorpark Rd, open 24 hours, zero reviews. Apple Maps: no listing at all. Two asks filed for Jeff: claim Yelp, verify Apple Business Connect. Nothing changed on any listing today.

  6. October 22, 2026AdaptedVideo and owner quotes on the service pages

An aerial clip on new construction, an EV charging clip on the EV page, the Lutron lighting loop from your first site on the lighting page. Generac and Lutron owner quotes and videos, labeled as the manufacturers' customers.

  7. October 22, 2026AdaptedAbout page written from your history, fifteen trucks at the peak

The projects page was folded into About until real project records arrive, so nothing on the site is a placeholder.

  8. October 22, 2026DoneYour plate now leads the footer and the homepage

The County Line plate is shown large at the top of every page's footer, above the wordmark, and beside Six kinds of work. One licensed crew. on the homepage, so CNTYLNE reads at a glance.

  9. October 22, 2026DoneApple Maps: no listing found

A search for County Line Electric on Apple Maps returns only the Newbury Park neighborhood. The business is not on Apple Maps. Apple Business Connect can add it, free, with the same name, address and phone as Google; it needs the owner to verify. Queued for after the Google profile is complete.

  10. October 22, 2026DoneYelp: an unclaimed listing with the old address and no reviews

Yelp lists County Line Electric at 235 N Moorpark Rd Ste 1107, Thousand Oaks, open 24 hours, unclaimed, zero reviews. It needs claiming by the business (Yelp verifies by phone or email to the owner), then the address, hours and categories corrected to match Google. Not touched until Mike and Jeff say so.

  11. October 22, 2026DoneGoogle listing read today: zero reviews, nothing to reply to

Read live on October 22. The profile shows no reviews, so there is no star rating, no review in the last three months, no negative comment to learn from and nothing awaiting a reply. Nearby electricians show 5.0 from 46, 4.8 from 12, 4.7 from 3. The only edit made so far is the hours (Monday to Friday 9 to 5, October 21). Next, on or after October 24: the description. One edit class per visit, never more, so the listing is never put at risk.

  12. October 22, 2026DoneHero rebuilt around trust, five rotating services, video behind each

Every page hero now shows the four proofs we could verify today: BBB A+ Accredited since 2017, HomeAdvisor 5.0, CSLB #949580, thirty years. The homepage rotates through standby generators, home automation, Lutron lighting and shades, EV chargers and new construction, each over video, with tabs that follow. The Reviews page quotes the three HomeAdvisor reviews word for word and links to the source. The placeholder Projects page is retired until real projects arrive.

  13. October 22, 2026DoneDay 0 reading of your current site taken: AI visibility 5.8 out of 10

Measured against countylineelectricinc.com as it is today, before the new site goes live. Every later number is compared with this one.

  14. October 21, 2026AdaptedYour new website built: first 16 pages, on your plate logo and the dark look of your existing site

Home, the service lines Mike set (generators first, then home automation, Lutron lighting and shading control, EV charging, new construction), contact, and the first city pages. The plate is used unchanged at every size, including the browser tab icon and the share card.

  15. October 21, 2026Adapted46 pages: a page for every service in every city you serve

Twelve city pages and nine service-by-city pages across the areas Mike locked in, each with its own depth section and official references.

  16. October 21, 2026AdaptedHours, address and phone match your Google Business Profile

3533 Old Conejo Road #114, Newbury Park. Monday to Friday, 9 to 5. (805) 499-0823. The same record on every page and on the profile.

  17. October 21, 2026AdaptedStorm-season homepage: generators lead

The homepage opens on backup power for outage season, with the five services in one strip under it, all inside the first screen on a desktop.

  18. October 21, 2026AdaptedSpam protection on every form; every form promises a call back and nothing more

Bots are stopped before a message reaches you. The hero form asks for three fields and no email address.

  19. October 21, 2026AdaptedResources section opened with its first article, on public safety power shutoffs

Weekly drafting is set up so the section keeps growing with questions your customers actually ask.

  20. October 21, 2026AdaptedFull-bleed photo heroes on every page, every photo credited on one page

Backup power, lighting, EV charging and custom-home photos chosen per page. Credits and source links live on one image-credits page linked from the footer, so no caption clutters a hero.

  21. October 21, 2026DoneWeekly watch on your competitors switched on

Who else ranks for your services in your cities, read every week so changes are noticed.

  22. October 21, 2026DoneYour Client Observatory opened

This page, your brand page with the plate comp, and the update-my-website box.

  23. October 21, 2026DoneFirst edit on your Google listing: opening hours

Set to Monday to Friday, 9 to 5, after Mike confirmed them. One edit at a time, so the listing is never put at risk.

Jeff’s plate, kept. Everything around it, built.

County Line Electric already had the best thing a small brand can have: a mark people remember. A California license plate reading CNTYLNE. It only existed as one 500 pixel JPEG, with no wordmark beside it, nothing that worked at small sizes and nothing a sign shop or an embroiderer could use. The rule from day one: the plate is Jeff’s, and it is used as he drew it.

1plate, never redrawn into something else
27wordmarks drawn across three rounds
8directions brought to the table

How Digilu makes a brand

The same six rules on every identity. Below them, the rounds that mattered for County Line Electric: not every round, the ones that changed the direction.

  1. Start from what they ownReferences first: the logo they have, the sketch on a napkin, the board somebody likes. The first drawing stays close to it.
  2. Every round is publishedEach round goes on the client’s Brand page the day it is ready, newest first, with what changed and why.
  3. Every mark carries an ideaNo six weights of the same drawing. Each option shown is a different idea or a fix somebody asked for.
  4. Small sizes get their own drawingA browser tab is 16 pixels. The mark is redrawn for 16, 32, full size and the phone home screen, never just shrunk.
  5. The lock becomes a systemLockups, one color, reversed, an embroidery cut, favicons, social images, guidelines and a download kit, all generated from the locked drawing.
  6. Nothing is thrown awayRounds that lose are archived with the reason. The client can always see how the mark got where it is.
P1 · Oct 21

Start from the file that exists

The only copy online was a small JPEG on the first site. The first vector was a straight trace of it, embossed shadows and all. It went into the new site’s header that same day, so nothing waited on the logo, and it was replaced the moment the clean drawing was ready.

The plate stays. Fifteen ways to write the name beside it.

Round one left the plate alone and drew only the words: how COUNTY LINE ELECTRIC is set beside it on a truck, a sign, an invoice and the site header. Fifteen wordmarks, each a different idea, in black first so the drawing has to work without color.

The plate, drawn clean in Jeff’s own letters

The trace became a real drawing: every letter on the plate rebuilt as clean vector from Jeff’s own forms, so it holds on a shirt, a truck door and a browser tab. A later round tried seven ways to fill the plate’s two stickers, kept on record beside it.

Eight directions on the table, one locked

Mike brought eight ideas for how the plate and the name sit together: stacked, framed, with screws, with rails. Each was kept whole on the Brand page. The eighth, the plate over COUNTYLINE in black and ELECTRIC in the plate’s gold, became the direction.

I2 · Stacked, with rules

Small sizes get their own drawing

Seven letters do not survive sixteen pixels. So the browser tab uses the shortest true part of the plate, CA from CALIFORNIA, and every size gets its own cut: a simple one at 16, the border back at 32, the full plate at 48 and up, and a polished app icon for the phone home screen.

The approved logo, and the whole system around it

The plate sits smaller and tilted beside the name, so the two stop competing. It is on every page of the new site, the favicon and the share card, and the files are in Jeff’s Client Observatory for anybody who needs them.

  • Primary and stacked lockups
  • Icon and wordmark alone
  • One color and reversed
